This is episode 273, and we are talking about part three of building your content strategy framework, which is to cultivate. Welcome to the Content Queen podcast. I'm your host, Mariah, entrepreneur storyteller, digital nomad, creative content bootcamp, and founder of Content Queen. I'm here to teach you how to share your unique story, create content, and market your business with strategy through the channels that work for you.
Each week, I'll deliver a story to help you connect to a powerful strategy around marketing. Business and content creation. I'll also be joined by amazing souls and entrepreneurs who are here to share their own journey, along with actual steps to help you take your business to a whole new level through amazing storytelling, powerful and marketing and content strategy.
Let's do it. Hello gang. We're up to the final part of understanding content strategy and how to get those results from content strategy, and we are talking about cultivating. So if you're like, you know what? I just don't need to do this on my own. I need more support, I need more help. Well, let's do bootcamp together.
So on May the week of May 5th, we have a live round which you can join, and we do it together. We do bootcamp together, we do this strategy stuff together, and you don't have to feel like you're overwhelmed and the time will be allocated for you. So. You can check out the link in the show notes if you wanna learn more about content bootcamp.
If you've been joining this three part series and you just feel like you have to make that commitment for your business because you didn't start your business to be a content creator, I get it. But content marketing is a massive strategy. So if you wanna learn it and you wanna learn it with intention, we can do it together.
So cultivating, we're expanding in other places. We're navigating the process, and we're gonna test and trial to see what comes up next. So you've landed at your destination and you're not staying there forever. So you've gotta cultivate, you've gotta explore new spaces and places. You've gotta adapt to what works in your type of travel and embrace the process of learning and evolving.
So. Once you've decided. Yep. All right. I'm on my Europe trip. I'm going to Paris, Barcelona, maybe Amsterdam, you are in your journey of traveling, right? So you're kind of expanding to all the other places that you might wanna go on your trip. This is in the content journey about expanding into other platforms.
So if you are going to Europe, you don't just wanna go to one place, well, maybe you do, but if you've flown all that way from Australia, you might wanna go to other places. So you wanna make the most time of being in that continent. And that is the same with repurposing and expanding on other platforms.
So maybe you have started on Instagram. And you wanna build a mailing list, and then you wanna try and repurpose your content so that you can create that digital footprint. That is what it means to create a repurposing strategy so you can get the most out of the content that you have put your energy into.
If you've got a blog, how can you turn that into multiple different pieces of content across different channels? And this means you are working smarter, not harder. And I know that is like, oh, that saying's kind of annoying. But it's true. So it's basically, if you're going to one place, how can you get the most out of that long flight?
All that energy of planning your trip. I did a, a six week trip to Europe when I was 25, and we did like 15 countries now. That was probably a bit too much. You know what happened in my business when I first started, I was on every single channel. And that burned me out. So the same as that, that Europe trip, I have learn since then.
So when I go traveling, I'm very intentional with where I go. So I can get the most out of it, but I'm not burning myself out. And it's the same with repurposing, isn't it? Just about like spreading yourself thin across everywhere. It's being intentional with what you do, but then maximizing your time. And the second part of cultivating is nailing the process.
So every city has its own rhythm. Mealtimes tipping public transport. What you wanna do is create your own process of how you navigate these places, and you'll learn and adapt. For example, in Spain, they eat at like 9, 10, 11 pm and they don't go to bed till really late. That took time to get used to right, but.
If you're starting to understand and learn, you can adapt that into different places that you travel. That's what happens when now we travel, we find we adapt to these places a lot easier. So this is like building a process with your content. I. If you are creating all this stuff, how can you make it so easy for yourself?
So when you arrive at your desk to create that content, you know what you need to do. Just like when you go to a city, you know what needs to be done. Like, okay, we need to know where the grocery store is. We need to get a sim. Like you have that process in your mind so you know what needs to happen when you get somewhere.
It's the same thing. And if you write it down even easier, which I probably should do for the whole travel thing, but usually what I do when I'm even planning a trip or where we're going next, whatever, I do have that kind of list that I know can be repeatable across different places, different countries, you know, different cities, whatever.
So it's the same if you are spending all that time creating content, you wanna make it easier for yourself. So when you do sit down to do the work for your business, for your marketing, you know what needs to go into bringing that to life. So that is navigating the process, knowing what you've gotta do when you get there, knowing what you've gotta create when you are sitting down to put content together.
And then the third part of cultivating is test, trialing and measuring. So when you do travel, you learn what you like and what you don't like, so that on those next trips you can make it more impactful. For example, Mitch and I learned things like. Well, when we land somewhere at night, we don't usually like that 'cause we feel really disorientated and.
We feel like we don't know that city. So we can do one of two things. We can either book flights in the day, so we arrive somewhere during the day, or we can remember that every time we land in a city, we are gonna feel that discomfort, so then we can move things around or remind ourselves of that. It's the same when you are creating content and marketing your business.
If you don't test trial and see what works, you're basically doing it blind. You don't know what is resonating. You're creating all this work, you're doing all this. Putting all this effort in to not know whether you're gonna get the results. So you need to keep looking at your data, looking at your numbers.
And I know that can be overwhelming, but with practice and time, you can learn and see what works and what doesn't. And then you note these things down and maybe you can't implement them straight away, or maybe you can. So for example, whenever we are traveling and we notice something, sometimes we can't help it and we have to land somewhere at night.
But other times we try to learn from our past mistakes or the past things that did work. Oh, yeah. When we stayed in this area, we felt. We could navigate things better or whenever we went outside during the day and worked from a cafe, we felt more productive. Like things like that, that you learn whilst you're traveling to say, yes, we wanna do that again, or no.
And also when you leave a country, so usually when we leave a country, Mitch and I at the airport, we'll do like a gratitude, what we liked about that place, what it taught us. And then we usually drop expectations from the next, because one time I set these massive expectations for Barcelona, for Mitch, and he liked it, but he didn't love it because I really hyped it up.
So we usually have this like expectation sort of, we drop that expectation of that place and arrive there. With sort of a fresh mindset. So we do review and we go, oh, well, next time we would do this, or next time we wouldn't do that, or all those things. It's the same with when you're marketing. If every three months or every month, however frequently you can sit down and review things.
It's gonna give you a better understanding on all of the other elements of the strategy, your audience, your goals, your channels, the types of content you're creating, the things that you are sharing, the things that you are known for. Even where you're repurposing, is it all working? Is it not? The process does this work for me?
So all those other elements of putting your strategy together from the connection part to the creation, to now at cultivating the three Cs to content strategy, you can see what is gonna work for you and you strengthen it and you make it better. And we're always doing this. It doesn't stop. It's a continuous journey, right?
You don't just go, oh, yep, got that process in play. 'cause what's gonna happen? Algorithms are gonna change, your audience is gonna change, your goals are gonna change, everything's gonna change, but that's okay because we have this framework to keep supporting us on that journey. So to grow, you've gotta explore, adapt, experiment.
You've gotta see what's gonna work for you. You've gotta connect. You've gotta create and you've gotta cultivate, which are the three parts to a content strategy. And this is all about building your legacy, your business, and enjoying it along the way because. Learning to enjoy this process will make your life easier rather than fighting it all the time.
Just like in travel, there's some days that aren't great, but they're the days that make the good days better, so, well, that just happens in life, right? But there are moments when we're traveling and we're like, oh, we're so tired. We, we know we just want to rest, and all these things. And yes, we listen to ourselves, but also at the same time, without all the, the visa situations, the ripped passports, the countless things that have gone wrong.
Make you grateful for when things go right, and that's the same with building your marketing. So I hope that was a really interesting series for you to sort of understand through the lens of travel and my travel analogies, what it takes to put together a content strategy. As I said, this is sort of a free walkthrough, a little guide, but if you want more impact and more value, I.
You could join bootcamp. There's also my free audio guide series, which goes through every step in each detail with prompts and action steps for you to take to get a taste of what it would be like to join us in bootcamp, if you like, or maybe I just wanna see what it's like before I jump in. I recommend you look at that, but be a content queen or king, and remember that developing your strategy and story develops your business.
Thank you so much for joining me today, and please don't forget to share this with all your business and entrepreneurial friends, people that you think would get a lot of value out of this. You can share it to your Instagram stories and tag me at Content Queen Mariah, or you can just tell 'em about it if you do rate and review.
It helps me get more amazing guests, which I'm planning for the next month. So I really appreciate it if you've been listening for a long time, just to take a couple minutes to leave a review and if you think bootcamp would be for you, you could join us for our live round starting May five. If you are, you join after and listening to this in the future, you can still join because it's a passive course that you can do on your own, and then you can get invited to the live round for questions.
So it's not something that you have to join the live round for. It's sort of a hybrid. So you can always join it outside of the sort of, um, live round of it, and then you'll get invited to join the next live round. But if you have any questions about it, please let me know. Follow me on Instagram or TikTok and if there are any topics, any people you'd love on the podcast, I'd love to hear from you and I will talk to you next week.
Bye.
