272: Content strategy framework pt 2: Create
You’ve decided to backpack through Europe. You’re inspired, your route is set, you know the cities you’ll visit and the sights you want to see.
But now it’s time to plan the details...what will you do in each city? What will you pack? How will you capture the memories?
Because without that plan, even the most epic trip can turn into a chaotic blur. You waste time, miss the good stuff, and come home without the stories that make it all worth it.
That’s exactly what creating content without strategy feels like. You’ve got the vision, the destination, but no clear plan to tell your story, connect with your audience, or create something memorable.
In this episode, we’re diving into the creation phase of your content strategy. You’ll learn how to build a purposeful plan, tell meaningful stories, and show up in a way that reflects what you want to be known for.
Let’s get your content suitcase packed and ready, this trip’s about to get good.

This is episode 272, and I'm talking all about part two, the content strategy framework that is going to help you get results, and we're up to creation. Welcome to the Content Queen Podcast. I'm your host Mariah, entrepreneur storyteller, digital nomad, creator of Content bootcamp, and founder of Content Queen.
I'm here to teach you how to share your unique story, create content, and market your business with strategy through the channels that work for you. Each week, I'll deliver a story to help you connect to a powerful strategy around marketing, business and content creation. I will also be joined by amazing souls and entrepreneurs who are here to share their own story, along with actual steps to help you take your business to a whole new level through amazing storytelling, powerful and marketing and content strategy.
Let's do it. Hello game. Welcome to part 2, 2, 2, 2, 2, 2 of building a content strategy and the framework. Now, if you want more support with me as your guide, there is two options. The first one is you download my free audio guide if you're just not sure on where you stand with content strategy, and you need a little 1 0 1 that is free.
The link is in the show notes, or the second option is that you join bootcamp. You go all in. You make that financial commitment, which is accountability. You join us for the live round, which kicks off on the week of May 6th. Then you'll be going through my content bootcamp, which I'm currently refiling at the moment.
It is work, but it's gonna be absolutely epic helping you one, use chat GPT to help you create a strategy along with my framework, obviously. Two, I will show you how I will create an actual strategy. So I'm gonna do it with you, and I'm gonna film that process. It's like bonus videos. And three, I'm gonna share the success I've had with clients.
So you can see how this works in real life, because I know often real life examples are like, oh, how does that even, I don't understand. I wanna see it visually. I saw a video on. TikTok recently and the marketer was like, the one thing that I wished I had when I was a marketer was like a behind the scenes look on how other people do it to see if I'm doing it right.
So this is gonna help you with that process. And because it's the live round and you'll get access to the live round, there's three calls where you can ask me questions and I can help you tailor your content strategy. So I'd love to join. I'd love for you to join us in Content Bootcamp. We've already got some amazing business owners that will be joining the live round.
So if you think I just need to make this commitment, just need to do it. I don't have time. It's in your calendar, so you'll make time and I'm here to guide and support you along that journey. So we are up to, as I said, part two, which is to create, to nail our strategy and tell our story and what we are known for.
So if you listened to the past episode, we were backpacking in Europe with no plan, no intention, right? So basically the part of this story is really packing your bags and planning your itinerary because once you know where you are going, so you've connected with your audience, your goals and your vision, it's time to create.
The route and your strategy and your story that's gonna make your trip super epic. I'd love to know. Are you a traveler? Do you like to travel? Where's the best places that you have been? If you're on Spotify, there is a comment section. Comment tell me. People will be like, that's random if they've never listened.
But that's what makes it fun, right? So I'd love to know or come over to Instagram and share your travel stories because I love talking travel with people, and I know this is content and marketing, but I think entrepreneurs and small business owners, we do have that travel, travel bug or that adventure bug in us.
Otherwise, we probably wouldn't go down this journey. So let's chat, travel. In the, in the comments of this Spotify or on Instagram. But let's get stuck into it, right? So think about it when you are prepping for the trip. So in this case, you're prepping for your Europe backpacking trip. Uh, if you don't like the idea of backpacking, you can do it with a suitcase.
That's totally fine. I think next time I will, because we had the backpack thing and it is a little bit tiring. So you don't just wanna throw random things in your suitcase and hope for the best. But you also wanna know where you're going. So you can prep what you need to pack, but also prep what you're going to do.
So you pack with intention, you check the weather, you think about the outfits. And it's not like even if you're a fashion person or not, because I'm not. But I like to have these like certain aesthetics when I travel. So for example, when we went to Europe, I went with like some. Reds some greens and purple.
And that was kind of like my aesthetic and some floral and summary stuff. Obviously when I went to somewhere like Columbia, it was like such a colorful country and South America is just like known for its color. So I wanted to pack more color and it was just 'cause I wanted to feel. Into that trip, right?
So obviously we pack what we need to pack. You gotta pack the essentials, passports, gotta make sure passport is up to date, all those things. We've had some passport travels, uh, along the way. So yeah, it has not always been the best, but you want to make sure that you know where you're going, know what you're doing, know what you need to pack, right?
So if you are nailing your strategy in content marketing, you are. Planning your itinerary and planning what you need to take. So it's not always like to the finer detail, but you kind of wanna get a gist. And if you are going for a certain period of time, you wanna make the most out of that time, right?
So you plan your day-to-day, sort of like travels where you're gonna be, what you're gonna be doing. I used to have these like. Intense itineraries and um, they were like bins. I'd get my mom to like bind them together. It was pretty crazy. Um, your content strategy is the structure, right? So even if you're not planning every second, you've got a guide with your content strategy, what topics you're gonna cover, what type of or when you're going to create more.
Sales type content, or when you're going to try and build audience or connect with your audience, there's always some sort of intention. How often are you posting? Who are you creating for? What is your goal? Right? So that is sort of putting it all together. And I have a three step kind of micro framework that I talk about in bootcamp and in the audio guide.
So if you want more detail on that, download the audio guide or join bootcamp. But basically I take you through what you wanna be known for. How, what part of the funnel you would use to create content and how you're going to use marketing campaigns or all those content ideas you have in your content so you know exactly what you're doing.
Just like a travel itinerary strategy is what keeps you from like going aimlessly in a country, right? Because obviously if you are staying somewhere for a long period of time, then yeah, you can have a little bit more of a. A flow in what you do, but as a business you have goals and you got places you wanna be.
So having some sort of itinerary or plan is gonna help you get the most out of what you're doing and why you're doing it. Basically, it's so you don't waste time when we would travel and what we are still traveling, but if we didn't know exactly kind of what we wanted to do, so we would do it like once a week or, um, leading up to where we were going.
We would find, we'd walk around aimlessly and literally waste time in that city. 'cause we didn't know what we were doing. So over time we realized, oh, we need some sort of structure or even just a list of like things that we wanna do. So we could just go, oh yeah, we wanna go see that, or we wanna do this.
And obviously we were working at the same time. So we need to make the most out of our time. And it's the same with your business. You've got 101 million other things to do. So when you go to create content, you wanna know what you're doing and why you're doing it, so you can just get on with it. Right. So that is part one of creating is nailing your strategy, planning your itinerary, and then you know what to pack.
Obviously part two is telling your story. I. Yeah, so when you travel, you collect memories, you know, funny, challenging, amazing, you know, those moments of like absolute gratitude or those absolute disasters where you have visa issues and all kinds of things that we have had over the time. But they build character obviously and make for lessons that we can share in our content.
But these are your stories. They're almost like those postcards that you send home or that travel diary that you keep so that you can share that with others in the future, right? When you come home and. You know, I used to sometimes have these little slideshows on my TV and take my parents through my pictures, or I used to make videos, even if I never did anything with them.
I'll never forget, we went on a Queensland trip when I was like in year eight, I think, and we had one of those old school video cameras and I filmed the whole thing. So there was like hours and hours and hours of footage, but they were such core memories for me. I just wanted to document them. So. Hence why I've always been naturally, you know, with a camera or something in my hand, I, that video camera has some serious embarrassing moments on it.
I can tell you, we used to film music videos and horror movies with my friends. It was crazy. But anyway. So these are the memories that you share with others. So your story is really what builds connection. And it's your unique take. It's the behind the scenes. It's your reason why you do what you do. It is bringing people in.
So everyone says like, stand out, create unique content, da da da. And everyone's like, oh, cool. What? Usually they are stories. So they're the stories that you tell your story, stories you've heard, uh, stories in the public domain. Hypothetical stories, analogies, like there's so many different types of stories you can tell.
I know it can be overwhelming and that's why when I designed a bootcamp and now that I'm redoing it, I made sure there was sort of frameworks that you could follow. 'cause everyone's like, yeah, cool, tell stories. But even though we are all natural storytellers, sometimes we get really lost with like how to tell the story.
So that's why I have built this into bootcamp as part of the strategy is to tell your story. I don't think a lot of. Strategic marketers really, they, they sort of share it, but they don't go into detail with it, right? So when you're traveling these are you just collecting all those memories and when you are voice noting friends or FaceTiming back home or whatever it is, you are sharing those stories and people go, oh my God, I can't believe that happened.
Like people always, when we get home, tell us everything, what happened, what you know. But obviously we post on social media so it becomes content. And the third part is what you wanna be known for, like what makes you unique. So some travelers are more like luxurious, five star hotel, fine dining. Others are like van lifers and backpackers us said bus in our backyard right now.
So finding out what's your style and. How people can recognize you. For you, it's like building that sort of, those brand foundations into your content so that people go, oh yeah, that's the type of style that content queen creates. Or they're the sort of topics that they talk about. So, you know, are you.
Like, for example, with the content space, the queen of storytelling, a repurposing expert, a strategy nerd. You know, what's your signature style? And then you can also go down the style of content you create within that, which I'm gonna do a whole podcast episode on this because I've come. To the realization that a lot of us are creating content for our businesses and we're just like throwing things together.
But we all have our own unique style of how we create, and sometimes we are more natural at showing up on camera or creating a real with B roll and text, or not doing video doing carousels or images like. We all gravitate to a space or we're better writers. You know, I've done a quiz on this of finding out your sort of channel, but I wanted to go a bit deeper and talk about your style.
So I will be doing a podcast on this. So finding what you're known for is that thing that makes you unique and helps you stand out as well as your storytelling, right? So, and it's your own spin and take. For example, in the content marketing space, I love talking strategy and I love talking storytelling, and they're kind of the two things.
But then I have this travel element to it that I like to bring into play and make these travel analogies in my content or share. If I'm sharing videos, maybe it's videos of us traveling or when I'm filming, I might try and film somewhere. Unique and different. If we're on a little tour on the weekend, I'll say to me, Joel, let's just quickly spend five minutes and do some videos, because obviously I've had a lot of practice in this, so it's a lot easier for me just to whip out a camera and take five minutes to do like a couple of videos and then enjoy my time.
So there, what makes up, or that is what makes up your creating a content strategy, putting the plan together, the itinerary. So you know what you're doing when, why, and how. Finding that unique edge with your storytelling and putting together all those memories that you can share, and then piecing together what you're known for, what makes you and your brand unique, and how you deliver that through the style of content that you create as well.
So creating with intention is how. Your trip becomes a story that you wanna share, that you wanna tell. So when you're traveling, you pack smart, you plan your stops, you share the realness along the way, and document the journey or whatever you wanna do, get all your pictures, and that's how you. Create a really memorable trip, right?
But then in saying that, when you are creating content for your audience, this is how you become memorable. 'cause everyone's like, well, how do I stand out? I'm boring. I've got nothing to say. Who cares what I have to say? There's so much content out there, I. All those limiting beliefs almost become not redundant because they definitely don't.
And there's so much work we need to do all those and I'm still doing that. But you have more confidence to show up because you know, it has intention. And I've seen this happen time and time again. When people have plans, even clients that we've built strategies for, we've sort of implemented them and then after three months they're like, I think I'm gonna do it on my own.
Uh, you know, whether it's financial timing, they're just a little bit still unclear on what they wanna do in their business. I have seen them. Then flourish because they've taken on all those elements and they've got that confidence. So have a think about the create part of the strategy, and if you're like, I just need support, Mariah, help me join bootcamp.
I would love to see you there and be a content queen or king. And remember that developing your strategy and story develops your business. Thank you so much for joining me today, and please don't forget to share this with all your business and entrepreneurial friends.
