The 6 emails you MUST have in your email sequence
Do you have an email sequence ready to go?? If not, now is your time to get into it!
Getting your content sorted for the new year is essential to start off on the right foot, and what better place to start then your email marketing strategy!
If you’re ready to start planning what you want to do with your email list in 2022, this is the blog for you!
How important is building an email list as a marketing strategy?
Not having an email list is like putting all of your eggs in one basket. You never know if or when social media will have an outage, and if this happens you may just lose all of your followers, and then what? Having an email list will ensure that, if this does happen, you still have a base of people who you can stay in contact with!
Your email list is also important to sell directly to your target audience, it’s like sitting down and having a cup of coffee with them as your ideal client. You can offer, build trust and establish brand awareness this way, plus it is a direct line of contact to you if there are any questions that need to be asked!
How to build or grow your email list
There are so many ways that you can build/grow your email list and a lot of people tend to overlook it! Here are a list of ways you can efficiently grow your email list!
Quizzes (teaching people something about themselves and teaches you about your audience and where they are at with the problem) plus, quizzes are viral - people share them!
You can segment and target specific emails to their problem - solve those pain points!
Lead magnets and what they can solve - this is a quick win with little effort for your audience (not to mention that PDF lead magnets have lost their zing)
Use social media to drive people to your email list and deliver it in unique ways
Make sure the option to join your email list is EVERYWHERE on your website too (homepage, sales pages, everywhere!)
Generate ads to your freebie to build up the trust people have that your freebie is worth their email!
Use the Give Give Ask (the ask must be a micro commitment like download my freebie or take my quiz)
Build your email list by having a ‘fab factor’ (we’ll get into that)
See! So many ways to build up your email list, so why not take on some of these tasks and try them out!
Email sequences and nurture sequences
Email marketing, simply put, is like dating - you nurture your audience like if you were dating them.
6-8 emails is a good amount to nurture your clients (each of these are their own ‘dates’ which takes closer to the ‘proposal’). So if we look at it like this, you can write these emails like you are having a conversation with a friend.
Talk about what you are passionate about and ask questions to your audience from this content - you can even use analogies from your factor (if you like Harry Potter, your subject line could relate to this!)
Even take these ideas and inject them into your content, from there your email list will start to grow!
The 6 emails in an email sequence
Now to really narrow things down, we wanted to let you in on the 6 emails you NEED in your email sequence to properly grow and nurture your list! So here they are!
1: Your freebie! Always use the first email to give the people who signed up what you promised - so this is usually your freebie!
2: Your story about how you, your business, and your resources relate to your audience's problem/pain point
3: Show the start of the solution to a problem that they have and need to fix. Give them the "what" not the "how"
4: Time to show social proof and transformations in story form - get testimonials and create a bit of a case study
5: Give value with good resources and direct them to your blog/podcast. This is asking for a micro commitment - nothing too serious yet.
6: Next step! Do you want them to sign up for something, download another freebie? Whatever this looks like, create a call to action and sell.
Then, after this, email them once a week and don’t sell all the time in it. You can do weekly nurture about life, business, or whatever else you want to update them on - from there it’s up to you!
What if I am not feeling inspired to create a weekly email?
It’s simple, don’t do it! Wait until you are inspired and create them. There's no use trying to force something that just won't happen, so go with the flow!

Final thoughts
Creating an email list is the safest way for you to nurture your audience. You won’t be relaying solely on “borrowed” channels like social media to build your following and you have a lot more data within your “owned” channel. This also gives you direct access to your audience (because those emails 90-95% of the time go straight to the inbox of that person.
