Guess what? There's only 1 month left until 2023! Can you believe it? With the new year rolling around, that can mean some awesome opportunities like new goals, projects, and a new way of marketing! 

While you might not have thought about what 2023 looks like, that is okay! Join us as we explore the 5 things you should consider for your marketing strategy in the new year plus more inspiration and guidance on what you could do for your brand.

  • Video mixed with long-form content!

When we talk about this we are talking about short videos with impact. It isn’t about just jumping on trends all the time, it goes deeper and allows you to be more unique. With this form of content, try and teach something and give your audience a piece of knowledge to walk away with, that is how you will grab a quick win.

Don’t be afraid to get vulnerable within your content and ask thought leadership questions. These are great to build up trust within your target audience.

  • Put storytelling into everything

Storytelling, as you’ve heard us say over and over again, can be so beneficial in your content! Storytelling is an amazing tool that anyone can use which really allows you to connect to your target audience. Your experiences in life, the adventures you’ve been on, and the lessons you’ve learned all make up your unique business and personal timeline - so why not share that unique take on life with the world?! 

Storytelling can give you and your business so much content to work with. Using a strategy along with specific storytelling formulas then allows you to add lessons that resonate with your target audience!

  • Take the time to collaborate 

We aren’t just talking about online this time but in-person LIVE events! Going to live events are your best bet to network and meet people in the same niche (or even different niches) as you who own their own business.

You can learn so much from these events and gain insight into other methods, techniques, strategies, and resources that other businesses use that you may not. Make sure to chat with people and create connections, you never know who you may want to work with in the future!

  • Join new community groups

In the new year, make an effort to get out of your comfort zone. Try and look outside Facebook groups to build community. Some awesome platforms can help you do this, try Discord, Voxer, or Circle, these are all new community groups that you can try to see what you like.

Make sure you give these platforms a while to get moving: play around with them, engage, communicate and chat. Then, if you find that the platform isn’t for you, try a different one!

  • Gamification: if you have the community 

This is a bit of an interesting one, but hey in 2023, why not try something new? 

Gamification is a process of marketing that takes elements of gaming to reach your target audience. I know it sounds quite intimidating, but it can actually be really fun to create, it doesn't have to be complicated you just need to have a goal in mind.

This form of marketing calls on the target audience’s interest in interactivity and allows the business to reward loyalty and purchases. You’ve probably seen gamification right in front of you and didn’t even notice what it was, it can include things like quizzes, points (think travel points or something like “reach 100 points and get a $10 voucher”), levels (different level of customer eg. bronze, silver, gold) and so much more.

Definitely, an interesting one to think about especially if you are a small business that wants to stand out!

Final thoughts

Strategies and business are forever growing ad changing, some strategies may seem so foreign to you now, but that is why adaptability is so great to have! It is a positive thing to learn from people around you, especially this generation and younger kids, as to where social media will be heading in the future and how you can use this t benefit your business. 

So, which strategy are you going to try out in 2023? There is honesty so many to choose from, so try not to get overwhelmed!

Break it down simply and focus on what your goals are in the new year, this way it is easier to pick out which strategy you want to trial first. Our pro tip is to only try one strategy at a time, give it 3-6 months and see what happens, after this if it isn’t working for your business (look at the analytics and your goals to determine this) then move on to the next one!

Remember that business, content, and strategy are iteration processes, you can’t simply try once and give up, you need to keep going. Experiment, try new things and push your brand further, that is what we want to see in 2023.
