Copy my content strategy

Do you need a content strategy that actually WORKS for your business? Well, look no further!

Okay great, you know you need a content strategy, but you might be thinking "what does this look like?" or "what do I need to do to get started?". And guess what? We have the right answer for you!

If you are procrastinating your content strategy (or the improvement of what you currently do), I may have the answer you've been searching for: just copy my content strategy!

Seems too simple, right? Well, I wanted to supply this for you so you can use it as a baseline framework. This is the exact strategy we use for our own marketing and client marketing within the agency.

While this is not a step-by-step, copy it and this will work formula. It is a framework that you can tailor to help you be seen online via social media, blogs, podcasts and the lot.

Start building your business digital footprint now! Let’s explore the ins and outs of this strategy together!

The content strategy

This is the content strategy that we have adopted at content Queen! This, of course, can be altered and adapted to your own way of working, but that is the best part. It is versatile, and flexible and works to your schedule so that you see the results you’ve been wanting.

Don’t forget, however, 2 very important parts of the strategy: the research and execution. These come before and after the steps below and are SO important when building your strategy. So, this is your reminder to do the pre-work and follow through with getting your content out there! Perfection isn’t what we are looking for, it is creating content that we are proud of, that connects with our audience and that converts, that is the main goal.

(We expand on these a bit more in steps 2 and 3)

Give this a go for 3 months and see the transformation of not only your content but your business as well!

Step 1:

It’s always important to start with your core channel. This is the main platform you will be posting on, showing up on, and where your other content will flow from. Your core platform is usually long-form, for example, your podcast, blog, or video OR if you don’t want to do any of these, a long-form piece or main piece on social media.

This is your starting point, so make it something that you really enjoy doing (this is key to staying inspired and consistent)

Step 2:

Next, choose your supporting channels. These are used to repurpose the content from your core channel; this may be email marketing, social media, etc. This is also when we address the execution of the strategy! You can ask yourself where you want to show up and where you want to create content, and ultimately, what channels are going to help you get your content out to your audience.

Step 3:

Figure out what you want to be known for and create topics based on this. Don’t forget to do your research! How do you want to be known? Look into this by looking at other businesses similar to yours and generate ideas, you can research by seeing where your target audience is looking for answers to their pain points.

At Content Queen, we have different types of content buckets that we work from in rotation, this helps us stay consistent, and aligned and we never run out of ideas!

The buckets we have acted as the key elements of what the business is all about - from these we can pull themes, concepts, ideas, and inspiration whenever we need it. This is exactly what you can do with your business and core themes! To read more about content buckets, click here.

Step 4:

This is the more practical stage of the strategy, this is where you begin to plan what your social media will look like day to day.

Work out how many days a week you will be posting, when you’ll be showing up on stories, which platforms you’ll be posting on etc. This is where the content pillars come into play, if you don’t remember what these are or haven't heard of them they are similar to our buckets in terms of where we can pull inspiration from. Showing up for clients means more than just providing them with your products or services. This is how you can offer your clients more than just the basics and take your content to the next level.

Content Queen works to four content pillars which include fun, education, information, and engagement. If you want to learn more, click here.

Step 5:

Now you need to work on your sales. What are you trying to get out of your audience? Do you want to sell them a product or service? Do you want them to download something? What is it you are going to be promoting?

We always want a reason behind the content, you need a place for your target audience to land when they find your pages. Then, from this, you can work out your content ideas based on what you want to promote.

Step 6:

The second-to-last stage is where we begin to build HABIT. Now we are getting down to it; getting the content out! Don’t be scared, this is exciting! Your hard work has paid off and now you can start pushing out the content for your audience to see.

This execution stage (key word here) is where you decide the days you create and organise how you will keep yourself accountable. Will this be through a to-do list? Schedulers? Calendar updates? This is totally based on what works for you.

Test, trial, and measure different tools to see what works for you and find that groove. Force yourself to use these tools and create a habit around them, this is what ultimately will hold you accountable. If you aren't sure where to start with tools for each aspect of your content, check out my blog of suggestions here.

Step 7:

Lucky last is the evaluation stage! This stage is just as important (if not more important) than any of the others. Why? Because this is where we can tell if the strategy is actually working or if something needs to change.

Evaluate after 3 months of your new content strategy (this gives the strategy enough time to be fully implemented) and when you’re ready, come back and measure the topics, the platforms, the type of content, and any other aspect that will give you a good indication of success. Then conduct an evaluation every quarter after this.

This last stage will help you find out what works and what doesn't for your business, and you can then make changes from there.
