The four reasons why you are struggling to create content

Producing content takes a lot of different resources. It requires love and attention to make sure it perfectly displays the person or business producing the content, and it requires patience to continue to deliver.

Content can be hard, and we don’t want to sugar coat it. But do you know why we do it? Because it is WORTH it. The end result from a quality piece of content is what will be the difference in how someone sees you as a business and why they choose you over someone else.

Over the years, I have been talking to the community of entrepreneurs, side hustlers and business owners to ask the question “what do you struggle most with when it comes to creating content”, and I don’t think you will be surprised when I tell you, people are struggling to produce content in general.

The outcomes people told me… I think you will agree.

So what I want to do is to go through these and provide you with actionable solutions so you can start LEVELLING up! So you can start SHOWING up, and so you can start gaining those clients you want to SERVE.

So shall we have a look at what they are?

Time

As the quote goes “Time is what we want the most, but what we use worst”. Time is a hard one, but I think what you need to remember with your business is, you NEED to be investing time into developing your business just as much as you need to be investing time into doing work for clients.

Have a think about it, if you aren’t investing time into your business, how can you expect people to find out about you? How can you expect new clients?

Of course, you can invest in someone to create the content for you. But if that isn’t an option, if you need to create more content but aren’t sure where you will find time to do this.

Try these simple techniques…

  • Schedule one or two days to work on your business (this includes personal development AND content creation)

  • Use time batching to create content (two ways you can do this. You can use that one day to batch social posts, podcasts and blog - or whatever you like, for a period of time, so you have a stockpile of content

  • ALSO, you can batch your time to get things done, 25 minutes on the timer and give yourself that time to just WRITE. After 25 minutes are up you can have a break)

All of these techniques ARE VERY EFFECTIVE! And have single-handedly been the reason I am able to show up as much as I do!

Strategy and Purpose

Okay, this can be a tough one. You have ALL this content you have just put out there, and it has no meaning, so you struggle to produce because you struggle to see the benefits.

OR you are too afraid to post content because you feel it doesn’t have a meaning and you don’t know when and where you should be posting.

GET A CONTENT STRATEGY!!! I speak about it more in my blog here or my podcast there. But this is an easy solution to help you feel better and stronger with your content! Have a plan, have a platform and have goals around what you are trying to achieve, then it will make it SO much easier to post.

Once it is all mapped out, you just need to get creating and use the time techniques to get that happening!

Consistency

As I said in my recent podcast episode… consistency is the KEY to success! It is the key to ensuring people see you, people hear you and people engage with you!

If you aren’t showing up consistently to your audience, how are they meant to know who you are and what you can provide?

My tip to being consistent??? Schedule time to show up! Schedule time to go live each week on IG, schedule time for your IG stories or your LinkedIn videos.

Have a schedule (which is part of your content strategy) and stick to it. Remember, form habits, and eventually, they will just come natural, and you won’t think twice before posting.

Use the two tips above and start levelling up your consistency, otherwise how are people going to reach out to you?

Also, what you need to remember, things take time! Don’t expect to be an overnight success, you just have to chip away at it and continue to be there for your audience.

Confidence

It’s all about confidence baby. We all know this one. Confidence stops us in our track A LOT! It isn’t just with content creating. But you know what helps with confidence?

Practice. Just like they say, practice makes perfect. It helps you gain the confidence you need to show up and create content without hesitating, without being negative and without self-doubt.

So set yourself a challenge to write every day for 30 days, this could be on anything, or you can make it useful for your business. But just get writing. Even if it is 200 words a day, get it down and continue to work and develop that as you go!

Also, you know what else is good for self-confidence? GOOD SELF TALK!! Don’t be hard on yourself. If you are managing to build a business, work for clients and produce content, you are KILLING it! SO every time you are scared to post that podcast or that blog, just remember how far you have come and how much value your content brings to others.

Do you want to know how I managed to build confidence around my writing? xxx
