How to juggle multiple social media platforms whilst staying authentic and consistent

Juggling all of the platforms at once while trying to do ALL the things as a business owner can be a lot to handle. When first starting Content Queen, I was very guilty of trying to do everything at once and showing up all the time just for the sake of it.

It can feel like a never-ending (not to mention draining) cycle.

That’s exactly why I encourage all of my clients and anyone who comes to access my content to choose only a few platforms to juggle but to also stay authentic and consistent at the same time. It’s easy for me to tell you to do this, but a question I get asked a lot is “how?”, how do you jump between platforms whilst showing up as your true self?

Well luckily, that’s our topic for today!

Establishing yourself and your brand on social platforms is one thing, but maintaining a consistent and engaging schedule is another. So join me as I chat about consistency, authenticity, engagement, and more!

Oh, and if you have any questions like the one above, feel free to join the Content Queen Empire Facebook page. It’s a place where we can all connect, ask questions, and chat, so feel free to follow the link here to check it out!

What are the best ways to maintain consistency?

I wish there was a secret set of ingredients that help you to stay consistent on all of your channels because then I could tell you what it was…

Oh wait, there is!

Through working with other businesses, and of course with Content Queen, I’ve quickly realised there are 3 key things you need to do to help you balance all of your channels while staying consistent AND authentic as well. You could almost say it’s a secret recipe…

So, what are the key things you need??

  1. Repurpose!!

One of my absolute favourite things in the world! Repurposing is an absolute lifesaver when you begin to show up on multiple channels and want to start doing more in your brands - and no it isn't being lazy, it’s creating more touchpoints and being efficient with your time! But if you aren't sure how to repurpose, how do you start? Well, here are my top tips on repurposing and how you can start doing more of it in your business!

  • Start by using content from one channel and take it to another, for example:

    • You could start with your podcast and make it into a blog

    • Instagram captions  to Facebook captions

    • Instagram captions to a LinkedIn post

    • Pinterest graphics made from key ideas in your blogs

    • Instagram stories can become your captions

    • The opportunities are literally endless, there is so much you can do!

  • Repurpose the idea rather than the actual content - your ideas are what reflect your brand and business to your target audience, so if you have a cool idea, run with it!

  • Sometimes as creators we forget how much content we actually produce. So start reusing and repurposing everything you do, you have so much content already created that it would be a waste to not push it further.

  • Pick one channel as your core content platform and filter it to other channels, the more you post to this channel the more comfortable you’ll become, and then you can change it up!

  • Make sure when you repurpose content that it makes sense with the channel you've chosen. So maybe you don’t post a reel to Facebook but you use the caption and change the reel to an image instead.

  • Pick a theme for the week and use this idea to create content. Ask yourself how you can use this theme to be fun, to promote, and to educate. This is our core strategy at Content Queen which we talk a lot more about in our membership, so if you’d like to become a pro at idea creation and repurposing make sure to click here to join the membership waitlist! 2. Outsource

Outsourcing can sometimes be a scary concept for entrepreneurs and business owners. It’s hard to release a bit of that control over to someone else, but trust me when I say it’ll change your life! Here’s how you can do it:

  • Outsourcing doesn't always have to mean your social media, but find what you don’t love and outsource that! It is scary but doesn’t have to cost loads (remember how much you charge hourly and how much time you spend doing things that might be cheaper to outsource)

  • Start by outsourcing one social media channel rather than outsourcing the one you love showing up on most

  • You can even choose to outsource things in your personal life too

There are so many options to help you outsource so that you have more time to focus on the things that you love. I recently did a podcast with my co-host Shannon, where we talked all about outsourcing and how it doesn't have to be as intimidating as it can seem, so make sure to check that out here!

ALSO, if you’re ready to start outsourcing and need some help doing so, that’s exactly what Content Queen is all about! Our membership will teach you everything you need to know and give you access to such valuable resources as a business owner. If you’re ready to make that move, then join the waitlist now or visit our website for more deets!

3. Accountability

Even though you are your own boss (however this is for everyone), you do not have to be the only person making sure you’re getting stuff done! Having other people in your life holding you accountable for your goals can be that extra motivation you need to stay authentic and consistent. So, who can keep you accountable?

  • Hiring a business coach to look at your work can give you fresh perspective and insight you may not get from looking at it yourself.

  • Get a friend/business buddy to keep you accountable and to review your content, tell them your vision and goals for your brand and get their feedback!

  • Your audience isn't just there to view your content, they can also hold you accountable. Tell them when you’re showing up and what you are delivering when, this way you aren't just showing up for you you’re also showing up for them.

REMEMBER: Less is more! Start off small and cut back if you have to. Right now I am thinking about the process of reviewing what I do and making changes to suit my business and my needs as it grows, so don’t be afraid to make shifts in your business if things aren't working. Have a look and know where your audience shows up and what they like to see, this can really help you stay on track when making new changes! Consistently question if things are working and if showing up on certain platforms is worth it or not, this can save you lots of time and energy in the long run. AND lastly but most importantly, don’t waste your time comparing yourself to how others do things, you never know if they have a team helping them!

The core of being authentic

My biggest tip for being authentic is to really think about what “authenticity” means to you. How do you want to show up authentically and what does that look like?

The way I like to review this for my business is to go back to my core values. When you know what this looks like, then you can question whether you are being your true self or not!

How can storytelling help?

Storytelling is one of Content Queen’s favourite ways to stay authentic, it helps it feel like a natural process and eliminates that constant scramble for content ideas - because telling a story means it’s already happened to you!

A great way to keep track of all the stories you want to share is to start a doc where you can bank them and store them for later use. If you need help structuring a document like this, check out our very own content strategy template that you can download for free! It has all the advice and structuring you need to be authentic for your audience!

Otherwise, you can voice note content and stories to your VA and they can translate them into a document for you! This is a great way to also gain another perspective on your content and allow it to pass another set of ears before sharing it.

Final thoughts

These three key things are what I’ve found to be the best way to be consistent and authentic through your content. Showing up on all the channels all the time is overwhelming, so try sticking to just a couple of platforms and implement these three things to get the most out of your social media!

Remember that it is okay to take breaks when you need to reestablish your creative flow. A day off here and there is not going to make or break your business and social media will always be there when you get back.

Social media is about building networks and connecting with aligned people and brands, so if you need a creative break - honour that! These connections will know when you’re creating content just for the sake of it, if your energy isn't there your audience will know! So don’t try and push through it, your content will benefit from taking a break.
