How do you deliver content with purpose for your audience?

Purpose and content, do you think you have heard these words enough.

Well, if you listen to my content or read any of my stuff, you will be thinking - YOU SAY IT ALL THE TIME!

Okay okay, yeah I know, but now I want to show you how you can achieve the purpose driven content that will resonate with your audience!

Yay finally! Of course, it aligns with what you are offering, so you also have something for people to buy/invest in after they have gotten a load of value from you!

So, there is a bit of step by step action for this, but what I want you to do first is, know your target audience.

Do a mini-profile on who they are, once you know, do the market research. What do they want to know more about!

I have some resources on how to do that here:

You will notice, a lot of these will use the four pillars of content to help you, what are these? See here:

  • Inform: This is information around yourself, your business and your offers

  • Educate: the tips and tricks you provide to add value

  • Engage: the conversations and two-way posts you provide so your target audience can join in

  • Fun: this is your entertaining posts, your behind the scenes and your life events

What are you offering for the year?

Map out all your offers for the year (or at least half a year) and look at what you want to provide your audience. Once you know this, it will be easier to create content with purpose - because of course people will know what it is they can get from you!

Plus, your content will be a little taste into how you can help others! This is what I call inform. Informing people about what you have to offer and creating content to help them!

What can you educate people on?

Now to brainstorm. Have a think about the things you can educate your audience on when it comes to your niche. What are their pain points? How can you provide value to help them with this?

Think outside the square, but never assume! Ask your audience what they want help on, your content should help them through education! If you don't have a huge following, platforms like Ubersuggest and Answer the People will help you!

Map out what educating looks like! Does it look like showing people how to do something so they can do it themselves?

Does it look like industry updates?

You want to educate as much as you can. You need to push past the "if I give it for free, no one will buy from me" mentality!

To create content with purpose, it needs to add value to someone else’s life! Not just your own.

Who do I think does this really well?

Are you worried you are producing content without purpose?

What are some call to actions you can list down?

Have some go to Call to Actions, so you know exactly what you want people to "do" when they read, listen or watch your content.

Of course, not every piece of content needs to have a CTA, but you want to give people the chance to act on what you are saying, especially if it speaks to them!

You can create your list as part of my content planning template you can find here. Make sure you have a list of different call to actions, from just "comment/share" ones to "buy" ones!

What is the FUN side of your life and business?

We all like a bit of fun in our lives, so never be afraid to open and show insight into your business! Fun can look different for each business and each individual.

For some entrepreneurs, it is what they do on the day-to-day, how they are digital nomads and the like. For businesses, it might be team bonding, charity events - just to name a few.

Test this with your audience, see what resonates with them! You might have one social platform dedicated to just FUN!! My YouTube channel will be this soon when I start to travel!

What are your buckets of content?

What do I mean by buckets? So it is the types of things you will be talking about! This will obviously be around your niche, but you can add the things that light you up!!

For me, they are:

  • Content marketing

  • Content writing

  • Business

  • Wisdom and learnings

  • Social media

  • Travel

  • Motivation and self-care

What are yours? I'd love to know!!

Setting up a strategy for purpose

Okay so now you know what creating content with purpose looks like, you need to create a content marketing strategy to complement it! Here are a few things you need to think about when doing this!

  • Have a content marketing mission, so mine is:

Educational and informative, Content Queen is a content writing and content marketing business here to help entrepreneurs and business coaches create engaging content so they can sell authentically and with purpose by using the power of content.

  • What are your goals and KPI's?

  • What Channels you will use (have a core one too - this is your main platform)

  • Use the content pillars, buckets and themes (themes are what the topic is your focus on for the week)

  • Your tone and voice (I have the BEST guide to help you with this)

Yep, all sounds great, right? But how do you get this all organised and put in practice?? Well, I have come prepared with a template!! See no excuse now for not having a content strategy! This one might be basic, but it is a START!!

Get the plan in place before you action!

Final thoughts

What I can say to you before you leave is, a content strategy will help you achieve content with purpose because it will give you direction, accountability and consistency.

When you have a content strategy, it allows you to market your business authentically that speaks to you and your audience.

A content strategy will help you with:

  • MORE TIME (yes I know right?!)

  • More direction

  • Your marketing strategy (remember content marketing is a marketing strategy)

  • Conversion and building funnels (organically too)

  • Confidence (because you will feel aligned to your content)

These are just a few of MANY!! When I first started my business as a content writer, I’d get to 5pm at night and think “okay I need to post on social, what does that look like?” I would search through my images and go “yep those flowers look nice” and I would post something ‘inspirational’ on those flowers.

Come join my birthday celebration for a content strategy, see below!

This was a constant battle for me!! Does that sound like you??? For me having a marketing background helped. I did the research and found I needed a content marketing strategy! So I made my own. Since then (November 2019) I am getting SO much more engagement, my followers are increasing by 30+ a week (which is big when you start from scratch) and I am getting messaged on IG and LinkedIn asking if I can help out with content marketing/writing! I am getting the leads I wanted when I started my business!

People are seeing me! People are noticing what I am doing and they are aligned to the audience I want!!

So stop stressing about your content and get a strategy! Now, here are some options for you to get started!
